Drought in Southwest China -Chinametals Go Together towards a Low Carbon Life

Southwest drought continues. According to SFCDRH statistics, until March 26, in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Sichuan and Chongqing five provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), drought farmlands cover an area of 94.49 million mu, accounting for 85% of the whole farmlands. The draughts have led to serious problems of drinking water for 189.3 million people and 11.73 million large livestock. Zhang Zhitong, the Deputy Director of Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, said on the one hand, the number of people with water shortage is still on the rise, and difficulty to solve the problem is enlarged, besides,
spring production is about to enter the peak usage of water. On the other hand, water sources become fewer and fewer, and drought-resistant will usher in the most difficult and most crucial stage.
